Epee Team Fencing
For our first season, we are only offering tournaments in epee team fencing as it has the clearest rules to understand and will allow students new to fencing to get started quickly. If you fence with a different weapon, that’s okay! Have some fun learning epee fencing!
What is team fencing?
Team fencing features squads of 3 athletes competing in a relay format where scores combine. Teams may be made of any 3 fencers - regardless of gender or high school grade level.
Can students who have never fenced participate?
Students new to fencing can also join in. We recommend that at least one student on the team be an experienced fencer in any weapon.
Who will referee?
We will recruit volunteer referees, but schools with two or more teams will be asked to utilize one of their members as a referee.
Will equipment be provided?
We are working on grants to enable us to provide equipment. Until then, students will need to provide their own equipment by purchasing it or borrowing it from their home fencing club.
If we can’t practice at our school, where can we practice?
Your team can contact local fencing clubs to find out when they have open fencing times. If someone on your team is an active member of a fencing club, they may be able to arrange team practice times with the club. The Colorado Fencing League is working on special rates for High School Fencing League teams.
